The Bowen Community Broadcasting Assoc. Inc. has been broadcasting to the Bowen and surrounding region for over 10 years. Licensed to broadcast on the FM band, you can find us at 95.1Mhz

Call sign “4GEM” is a community broadcasting licence and is managed by a volunteer based committee with the aims and goals to provide a community service throughout our district – Bowen and beyond. Our Broadcast studio is located at the Barrier Reef Tafe and the transmitter is on Hospital Hill in the centre of town (Bowen, Qld).

Bowen’s own Radio Station not only broadcasts music for your entertainment, but continues to strive to provide a complete community service including; Local and National news and events, weekly Job Board notices, Interviews, Press and Media releases, competitions, giveaways and generally what’s going on within the Whitsundays.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on local business sponsorship, community membership and funding and also grant funding from various sources. Community participation is encouraged at all levels and everybody is welcome to come to our committee meetings, or just pop down to the studio to check out the action.

As a member of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), we have adopted a standard of policies in broadcasting and community participation under the national peak body of the community broadcasting sector in Australia. All community members are encouraged to take a look at what GemFM can offer and we invite everyone to take advantage of our services.

Local business sponsorship provides excellent promotional advantages, but individual membership can offer some great opportunities too – from helping out with general volunteering in administration and office procedures, music library and programming assistance, on-air presentation, and any other area that requires current and new skills from technology based to management expertise, in addition to promotion and marketing.
